Sharon Hills

The Neighbourhood of Sharon Hills is located within East Gwillimbury, a town on the East Holland River in the Regional Municipality of York. It is part of the Greater Toronto Area of southern Ontario, in Canada. It was formed by the amalgamation of the Township of East Gwillimbury with all the previously incorporated villages and hamlets within the township. The main centres in East Gwillimbury are the villages of Holland Landing, Queensville, Sharon, and Mount Albert. The Civic Centre is located along Leslie Street in Sharon. The northernmost interchange of Highway 404 is at the North edge of East Gwillimbury, just south of Ravenshoe Road. The hamlets of Holt and Brown Hill are also within town limits.   The first phase of Sharon Hills was established in 1986 and bordered the original homes of Sharon, mostly bungalow models built starting around the 1950″s. incorporating this established area into it’s boundaries.

Sharon Hills is located on the east side of Leslie St., just north of Green Lane and running up to the Mount Albert side road. The homes are all built on large 1/2 to 3/4 acre lots and considered an executive subdivision, with large palatial homes.

It’s just a few  minutes drive to 404 hwy and about 40 minutes outside Toronto for the commuters. The Green Lane Go station is just 5 minutes away and its just 20 minutes south of the Lake Simcoe recreational area.

The whole of Sharon is surrounded by acres of farm land, giving it that country small town ambiance and sense of community. The town offices for East Gwillimbury are located in the town of Sharon at Leslie and Mount Albert Rd.  The main Shopping is located along the southern border of East Gwillimbury in the Green lane area which is integrated into the northern boundary of the Town of Newmarket, providing endless services of all types, located convenience and service shops are located within Sharon itself, Vince’s country market has existed in Sharon for decades, starting as a roadside market housed in a trailer. Today its a large modern store with a reputation for amazing fruits, vegetables, fresh baking, deli and butcher.

Sharon is also home to the Sharon Temple, an open-air museum site, located in the village of Sharon, Ontario, that was in 1990 designated as a National Historic Site of Canada. It is composed of eight distinctive heritage buildings and dwellings, and houses 6,000 artifacts on a 1.8 ha. site.

Covers 680 sq miles or 1,756 sq kilometers, The Regional Municipality of York, also called York Region, is a regional municipality in Southern Ontario, Canada, between Lake Simcoe and Toronto. The Regional Municipality of York stretches north from Toronto to Lake Simcoe and includes many hectares of protected Greenbelt. York Region’s diversity is evident in our nine local municipalities, geography, economic development and population. York Region works to provide residents and businesses access to a broad selection of services and resources.
The Regional Municipality of York consists of nine municipalities. Aurora, Newmarket, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King,, Vaughan Richmondhill, Whitchurch Stouffville and Markham.
Bounded by Hwy 50 and Peel Region on the west and York Durham Rd 30 on the east.
Local government is organized in a two-tier structure. Public transit, water, emergency management and policing are handled by York Region, while curb-side garbage collection, local parks and libraries are the responsibility of each municipality.
